Replacement Watch Bands for Every Watch We Cover

Changing a band is the cheapest way to make a watch feel new. The same case looks like gym kit on a silicone sport band and like office wear on steel mesh, and on most watches the swap takes under a minute with no tools. That is the whole idea behind this shop: one watch, several bands, no compromise between them.

There are two ways to find yours. If you know your watch, shop by brand. If you already know your size, shop by width. Both routes land on the same bands.

Shop Watch Bands by Brand

Most people start here, because the brand decides the fitting. Pick yours and we narrow it to the models that actually fit:

Each brand page lists every model we fit and, just as importantly, the ones we do not — because the wrong band is worse than no band.

Shop Watch Straps by Size

If you already know your lug width, skip the brand step. Lug width is the gap between the two lugs where the strap meets the case, measured in millimetres, and it is the only number that matters for a standard spring-bar watch.

  • 18mm watch bands — smaller cases: Huawei GT 41mm, Fossil Gen 6 42mm, Withings 38mm, OnePlus Watch 3 43mm, Xiaomi Watch S4 41mm
  • 20mm watch bands — the most common size on the market: Amazfit GTS and Bip, COROS Pace 2, Polar Ignite and Pacer, Garmin vívoactive and Venu Sq, Withings 40–43mm
  • 22mm watch bands — larger sport watches: Huawei GT 46mm, Amazfit GTR and Balance, COROS Pace 3, Suunto Race and Vertical, Polar Vantage and Grit X

Garmin is the exception. Most Garmin watches use the brand’s own clip rather than a spring bar, so they take QuickFit 22 or QuickFit 26 bands instead. If you are unsure which system your watch uses, the quick release guide walks through how to tell in a few seconds.

Watch Band or Watch Strap — Is There a Difference?

No. A watch band and a watch strap are the same thing. "Watch band" is the usual term in the United States, "watch strap" is what most people say in the UK, Ireland and Australia, and both turn up in manufacturer manuals. You will see the words used interchangeably across this shop, and nothing about the product changes with the wording.

You may also see "bracelet" used for metal ones, particularly link and milanese styles, and that is the standard word in French. Again, same object — a band that attaches to your watch.

Smart Watch Bands vs Traditional Watch Bands

Smart watch bands split into two families, and knowing which one you own saves a lot of guesswork.

The first family uses a proprietary fitting designed by the watch maker. Apple Watch, every Fitbit, Google Pixel Watch and the Samsung Watch Ultra all fall here: the band slides, clips or twists into a mount unique to that brand, so it will never fit anything else. Bands for these are sold by watch model, which is why our Apple and Fitbit pages are organised the way they are.

The second family uses ordinary spring bars, exactly like a traditional watch. Huawei, Amazfit, COROS, Suunto, Polar, Withings, Fossil, Skagen, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Honor and TicWatch nearly all sit here. For those, the brand is irrelevant once you know the width — a 22mm band fits a COROS Pace 3, a Suunto Race and a 1970s dress watch equally well. That is why our smartwatch bands double as traditional watch straps and vice versa.

Garmin sits between the two with QuickFit, a rotating clip of its own design. It is not a spring bar, so standard bands do not fit, but it is shared across most of Garmin’s range, so one QuickFit 22 band covers a fēnix, an Instinct and a Forerunner alike.

How to Measure Your Lug Width

You need one number and a ruler. Lay the watch face down, and measure the gap between the inside faces of the two lugs where the strap sits. That measurement, in millimetres, is your lug width. Common sizes run in even numbers, so if you measure 21.5mm you almost certainly have a 22mm lug.

  1. Turn the watch over and remove the current band if it is easy to do
  2. Measure the gap between the lugs, not the width of the old band at the buckle — bands often taper
  3. Round to the nearest even millimetre
  4. If you cannot measure it, check the watch manual or the maker’s spec page; lug width is nearly always listed

One warning worth repeating: case size is not band size. A 46mm watch does not take a 46mm band. The case measurement describes the watch body, the lug width describes the gap — and they are different numbers on every watch.

Choosing the Right Material

Once fit is settled, material is about how you actually wear the watch.

Silicone

The default for anything active. Silicone bands shrug off sweat, chlorine and rain, rinse clean under a tap, and are the only sensible choice if the watch goes swimming. They are also the easiest to live with day to day.

Nylon

Light, breathable and washable. Nylon loops adjust anywhere along their length rather than at fixed holes, which makes them the most forgiving option for wrists between sizes, and the most comfortable in hot weather or overnight.

Milanese and steel

Steel mesh that dresses a sport watch up without changing the watch. Milanese bands close magnetically so they adjust to the millimetre, and they suit an office or an evening far better than a rubber strap.

Leather

The smartest option we make. Genuine leather bands are currently offered in Fitbit fits only — Charge 3 to 6, Versa 3 and 4, Sense and Sense 2. Leather and water do not mix, so keep these for dry wear and swap to silicone for the gym.

Watch Band Replacement — How to Change One

Watch band replacement is a two-minute job on almost every watch we cover, and the method depends on the fitting rather than the brand.

Quick release spring bars

  1. Turn the watch face down on a soft cloth so the case cannot scratch
  2. Find the small lever on the spring bar under the band and slide it towards the centre
  3. Lift that end of the band clear of the lugs
  4. Seat one end of the new bar in its lug, slide the lever, and let the other end click home
  5. Tug both ends gently before wearing it — a seated bar will not shift

Garmin QuickFit

Press the small tab on the underside of the band, twist the band away from the case, and the whole thing releases. The new one drops in and locks with a quarter turn. No tools, no spring bars.

Apple, Fitbit and other proprietary mounts

Press and hold the release button on the back of the watch, then slide the band sideways out of its channel. Slide the replacement in until it clicks. Fitbit uses a spring-loaded pin on a similar principle.

Getting the Fit Right on Your Wrist

Band length matters as much as width for comfort. Most of our bands suit wrists from roughly 5.5 to 8 inches, but the closure style changes how forgiving that range is.

  • Nylon loops adjust anywhere along the strap, so they fit the widest range of wrists and are the safest choice if you are between sizes
  • Milanese bands close magnetically, so they also adjust continuously rather than in steps
  • Silicone sport bands use fixed holes, which means the fit steps in small increments — fine for most wrists, less forgiving at the extremes
  • A band should sit snug enough that the watch does not slide down your wrist, but loose enough to slip a fingertip underneath

If a watch is worn for sleep tracking, err slightly looser and choose nylon — a tight silicone band overnight is the most common cause of skin irritation.

Caring for Your Watch Bands

  • Silicone: rinse under warm water after sweat or salt water, dry before wearing again
  • Nylon: hand wash in mild soapy water, air dry fully — never put it back on damp
  • Milanese and steel: wipe with a damp cloth, dry thoroughly, and keep it away from harsh cleaners
  • Leather: keep it dry, wipe with a dry cloth, and condition once or twice a year — never submerge it
  • All types: let the band air out between wears, which does more for longevity than any cleaning routine

Why Buy a Replacement Band Rather Than a New Watch

A band is the cheapest upgrade a watch can get. Official bands from the watch makers frequently cost a significant fraction of the watch itself, and for that money you get one band in one colour. For the same outlay you can keep two or three here and change them to suit the day.

The other reason is simple wear. Bands are the part that fails first — silicone perishes, leather cracks, the pins on cheap bands work loose — while the watch itself keeps going for years. Replacing the band is usually all a tired-looking watch needs.
