Got a question? We are here to answer
The Fossil Carlie Gen 6 Hybrid is a 40mm case on 18mm lugs. Fossil publishes both numbers on its own product pages — Case: 40MM, Strap: 18MM — and the strap on this page is cut to that 18mm width. The Carlie Gen 6 Hybrid was sold as FTW7075, FTW7076, FTW7079 and FTW7084, among other finishes.
The Carlie is the smallest of the Gen 6 Hybrids: mechanical hands over an always-on e-ink readout in a 40mm case, rather than a colour touchscreen. If your watch has real hands and a low-power display in the smallest Fossil hybrid case, this is the right page.
The strap here is a quick-release, spring-bar design. Flip the small lever on the underside, slide the old strap out of the lugs, and press the new one in until it clicks on both sides. No tools, about 10 seconds per side.
Fossil uses standard lug spacing, so an 18mm strap also fits classic, non-smart Fossil watches with 18mm lugs. Back to the full Fossil watch straps range if the Carlie is not your model.
Straight answer, because it matters before you scroll: our 18mm range is one strap — the Rovan Magnetic Silicone Sport in 18mm. It is the only 18mm quick-release strap in the whole store today, so it is the only one that fits the Carlie Gen 6 Hybrid.
That is a gap in our range rather than a limit of your watch. The Carlie takes any standard 18mm quick-release strap; we simply do not cut most of our styles to 18mm yet. If you want a nylon loop, a milanese or a braided strap for a Carlie, we do not have one for you today.
The one we do have is a light magnetic silicone sport strap, which suits all-day wear and overnight sleep tracking on a small case. You can see it, and anything else we add at this width, on the 18mm quick-release straps page.
Fossil sold four different Gen 6 Hybrids and they use three different strap widths between them. This is where most wrong orders come from: the generation name is shared, the width is not.
The Machine and the Wellness Edition Hybrid are both 45mm and still take different widths, so case size does not predict lug width at Fossil in either direction. Match the model name and the width together, never one alone.
Fossil has used the Carlie name on non-smart watches and on earlier hybrids as well, in more than one case size. This page is specifically the 40mm Carlie Gen 6 Hybrid on 18mm lugs, so a Carlie from another line may well take a different width.
If yours is a different Carlie, ignore the name and go by the lug gap or the width stamped on the strap you already have. A name shared across collections is the least reliable thing to order on, and it is exactly how people end up with a strap that will not seat.
The Carlie Gen 6 Hybrid is 40mm with an e-ink readout and mechanical hands. A colour touchscreen means a Wear OS Fossil instead. A 44mm case means the Neutra and a 45mm case means the Machine or the Wellness Edition Hybrid — none of those are 18mm.
Fossil usually stamps the width in millimetres on the underside of its own straps, near the buckle. That stamp beats any third-party sizing chart, including ours.
With the strap off, measure the gap between the lugs with a ruler or calipers. A Carlie Gen 6 Hybrid measures 18mm across that gap. Widths in this lineup are whole millimetres, so there is no in-between size to worry about.
An 18mm strap is too narrow for the Neutra's 22mm lugs, the Wellness Edition Hybrid's 20mm lugs and the Machine's 24mm lugs. Quick-release width is not adjustable — the spring bar has to match the lug gap exactly, so an adapter is not the answer.
The touchscreen Fossil Gen 6 44mm and the Gen 5, Gen 5 LTE and Gen 5E 44mm all take 22mm. The one overlap worth knowing is at the small end: the touchscreen Fossil Gen 6 42mm and the Gen 5E 42mm are also 18mm, so the same strap fits them, whatever the sizing charts that round 42mm cases up to 20mm say.
Rinse a silicone strap under water after sweaty workouts and let it air dry fully before wearing again. Wipe magnetic styles with a soft, dry cloth rather than submerging them, and keep them away from other magnetic items when off the wrist. Check the spring bars now and then to make sure they are still seated firmly in the lugs, especially if you swap straps often.
