Got a question? We are here to answer
The Suunto Vertical and Vertical 2 both use a 22mm quick-release strap, so the same range of third-party straps fits either generation of this watch.
These straps attach with the same spring-bar quick-release fitting used across Suunto's range — press the small lever on the back of the pin, and the strap lifts free without tools.
See the full Suunto Watch Straps collection for straps that fit the Race, 9 Peak, 5 Peak, Ocean and Run as well.
A stock strap eventually wears at the spring-bar holes from long days outdoors, and third-party straps give Vertical owners more style choice than the handful of options that ship with the watch.
The Vertical is built for long days in the mountains, so durability and comfort under a pack strap or jacket cuff matter as much as looks.
Owners who spend most of the week in the mountains typically keep one rugged strap for long days outside and a dressier second option for town, so they're not stuck wearing trail gear to dinner.
Flip the watch over, push the small lever on the spring bar behind the current strap, and slide it free. Line up the new strap's spring bar with the lugs and press until both sides click into place.
The swap takes under a minute and needs no tools, so it's easy to switch straps between a trailhead and a trip into town.
First-time swaps are easiest with the watch resting face-down on a soft surface. If you're ever unsure which width to order, measure the gap between the lugs on the back of the case rather than guessing. Doing the swap indoors the first time also makes it easier to hear the click that confirms both sides are seated properly.
Rinse silicone and nylon straps after a sweaty or wet hike, then let them air dry before reattaching. Magnetic milanese and magnetic loop straps should be wiped dry rather than rinsed, since water can collect between the mesh links.
Store any strap you're not wearing flat and out of direct sunlight, since prolonged heat can dry out silicone and dull a milanese finish over time. Rotating between two straps also gives each one time to dry out fully between wears.
These 22mm straps are sized for the Vertical family specifically, so double-check your model before ordering if you also own a Suunto 9 or 9 Baro. A few other Suunto watches need a different fit:
