Got a question? We are here to answer
The Suunto Race (49mm), Race S (45mm) and Race 2 all use a 22mm quick-release strap, so the case size difference between Race and Race S doesn't change which straps fit — the lug width is identical across the range.
These straps use the same spring-bar quick-release system as the rest of Suunto's watches: a small lever on the back of the pin lets you pop the old strap free and click a new one in without tools.
See the full Suunto Watch Straps collection for straps that fit the Vertical, 9 Peak, 5 Peak, Ocean and Run as well.
A stock strap eventually wears at the spring-bar holes from race-day use, and third-party straps give Race owners more style choice than the handful of options that ship with the watch.
Suunto built the Race as a multisport and racing watch, so a lot of owners want a strap ready for race day as well as one for everyday wear.
Racers who train most days typically keep at least one moisture-resistant strap on hand and a dressier second option for non-training days, so they're not stuck wearing race gear to the office.
Turn the watch over and locate the spring bar behind the current strap. Push its small lever inward to release one side, then slide the strap free. Press the new strap's spring bar into the lugs until it clicks on both sides.
The whole change takes under a minute, which makes it easy to switch to a fresh strap right before a race and back again afterward.
First-time swaps are easiest with the watch resting face-down on a soft surface. If you're ever unsure which width to order, measure the gap between the lugs on the back of the case rather than guessing.
Rinse silicone and nylon straps in fresh water after a race or training session, and let them dry fully before reattaching. Magnetic milanese and magnetic loop straps should be wiped dry instead of rinsed, since water can sit inside the mesh.
Store any strap you're not wearing flat and out of direct sunlight, since prolonged heat can dry out silicone and dull a milanese finish over time.
These 22mm straps are sized for the Race family specifically, so double-check your model before ordering if you also own a Suunto 9 or 9 Baro. A few other Suunto watches need a different fit:
