24mm Watch Straps — What Fits

24mm is a wide lug size, reserved for the largest smartwatch and sports-watch cases. Far fewer models use it than 22mm, which is exactly why a 24mm watch strap is harder to track down — but the fitting itself is completely standard. Any watch with a 24mm gap between its lugs and an exposed spring bar takes the straps on this page.

Every strap here is a 24mm quick release watch strap: the spring bar has a small lever built into it, so the strap lifts free of the lugs by hand. No tools, no pushpins and no trip to a watchmaker.

24mm is a classic watchmaking width too, common on dive watches, pilot watches and oversized field watches. A 24mm watch strap bought for a Garmin or a Suunto goes straight onto a mechanical or quartz watch with the same lug gap.

How the Quick-Release Spring Bar Works

A quick-release bar is an ordinary spring bar with a tiny sliding lever on its underside. Push the lever toward the middle of the bar and that end retracts, freeing the strap from the lug. To fit a new strap, line its bar up with the lugs, press one end in, then click the other end home. The swap takes seconds, and the mechanism is identical at every width.

Which Watches Use 24mm Quick Release

24mm turns up on the biggest case in a handful of ranges. Check your exact model below before ordering, because several of these brands sell a near-identical watch at 22mm.

• Garmin — Venu X1. Garmin's owner's manual states it is compatible with 24 mm wide, standard, quick-release straps. It is the only Garmin model listed on this page.
• Suunto — Suunto 7, Suunto 9 and Suunto 9 Baro. Suunto sells 24mm quick-release straps for all three of these watches.
• COROS — Nomad and Apex 4 46mm, both specified by COROS as a 24mm strap, quick release type. The Apex 4 42mm is 22mm and does NOT take a 24mm strap.
• Fossil — Hybrid HR Latitude 50mm, the 24mm member of the Hybrid HR family. The rest of that family runs narrower, so match the model name, not the family.
• TicWatch — Pro 5, Pro 5 Enduro and Atlas carry a 24mm strap width per Mobvoi. Mobvoi does not state whether the pin is quick release, so look for the lever on your current bar before ordering.

Beyond those, any classic watch with 24mm lugs fits — measure the gap rather than trusting the case diameter.

Which Watches Don't Fit 24mm

24mm sits right next to two far more common widths, and a few well-known watches look like they belong on this page but do not:

• Garmin QuickFit watches do NOT fit. QuickFit 20, 22 and 26 are proprietary rotating-cam clips rather than spring bars, so a 24mm spring-bar strap does NOT fit a fēnix, an Instinct, a Descent or a tactix. Those take QuickFit straps in the matching size instead.
• Suunto 9 Peak, 9 Peak Pro, Race, Vertical, Run and Ocean are 22mm, not 24mm — only the Suunto 7, Suunto 9 and Suunto 9 Baro belong here.
• COROS Vertix and Vertix 2 are not 24mm quick release, whatever their case size suggests.
• A 22mm or a 20mm strap does NOT fit a 24mm watch. The bar is too short to span the lugs, so the strap sits loose and can drop off the wrist.
• Case size does not determine lug width — measure or check the spec.

How to Measure Your Lug Width

Lug width is the gap between the two lugs, measured straight across the opening the strap sits in. It is not the diameter of the watch face and not the width of the strap down at the buckle, both of which are different numbers.

Take the strap off, lay a small steel ruler or a digital caliper across the inside of the opening, and read the distance in millimetres. Standard widths step in even numbers, so a reading of 23.5mm means you are looking at a 24mm lug.

If measuring is not practical, the figure is usually printed in the watch's specification sheet or owner's manual under strap width or strap width.

Choosing a 24mm Strap Material

At 24mm the strap is the most visible part of the watch, so material changes the character of the whole piece far more than it does at 18mm. Match it to how the watch is actually worn.

For sport, silicone is the hard-wearing option: a 24mm silicone watch strap rinses clean under a tap, shrugs off sweat and handles swimming. The trade-off is that it can feel warm against the skin on a long summer day.

For everyday and overnight wear, woven nylon is the lightest and most breathable material. A 24mm nylon watch strap dries quickly and stays comfortable enough to sleep in for overnight heart-rate tracking.

For dress wear, stainless milanese mesh is the most formal of the three, though at this width it carries noticeable weight on the wrist.

Caring for a 24mm Strap

Rinse nylon and silicone straps with water and mild soap, then lay them flat to air-dry. Wringing a woven nylon strap out stretches the weave out of shape.

Wipe a milanese mesh strap with a dry or barely damp cloth instead of submerging it, so the clasp mechanism keeps moving freely.

Let any strap dry fully before storing it. Moisture trapped around the spring bar is the most common cause of a quick-release lever that turns stiff over time.
