Six current Suunto watches — Race, Vertical, 9 Peak, 5 Peak, Ocean and Run — all use the same 22mm quick-release lug width, which makes them compatible with the same range of third-party straps. This page rounds up all six; use the model guide below to jump straight to your watch.
Quick-release straps use a spring bar with a small lever built into the back. Press the lever, and the pin retracts so the strap lifts free — no tools needed, and no trip to a watch shop.
Before you order, double-check your exact model. Suunto has used both 22mm and 24mm straps across its watches, and two names sound alike but aren't: the 9 Peak is 22mm, while the plain Suunto 9 and 9 Baro are 24mm. We cover that distinction in full below.

For Training, Trails & Water
The Vornis silicone sport strap is the standard choice for training, hiking and running in all weather. The Rovan magnetic loop adjusts in a second over a wetsuit cuff, jacket sleeve or bare wrist. Both styles are built to handle repeated soaking without breaking down the way a leather or fabric strap eventually would.
For the Office & Everyday Wear
The Solin magnetic milanese strap gives a Suunto watch a smarter, fine-mesh finish for wearing away from sport. The Mavric braided loop is a softer, stretch-fit alternative for a similarly polished but more casual look. Either option makes an outdoor-focused Suunto watch look more at home away from the trail than its stock sport strap typically does.
For Long Days & Light Comfort
The Véllo nylon loop is light and breathable enough for long expedition days, while the Voren nylon loop is a woven alternative with a different texture and a more casual look. Owners on multi-day treks or expeditions generally find these two options more comfortable over long, uninterrupted wear than a stiffer silicone strap.
Fitting & Sizing: Swapping Straps in Seconds
Turn the watch over and find the spring bar holding the current strap in place. Push the small lever on the back of the bar, and the pin retracts so the strap slides free. Line up the new strap's spring bar with the lugs and press until it clicks on both sides.
The whole process takes under a minute and only involves the strap and spring bar, so it doesn't affect the watch's water resistance.
If you've never swapped a watch strap before, it's worth practicing on a strap you're not attached to first — it only takes a couple of tries to get a feel for how much pressure the release lever needs. If you're ever unsure which width your Suunto takes, measure the gap between the lugs on the back of the case rather than guessing.
Caring for Your Straps
Silicone and nylon straps can be rinsed in fresh water after a salt-water swim, sweaty run or muddy trail, then air-dried before you reattach them. Magnetic milanese and magnetic loop straps should be wiped dry with a cloth instead of rinsed, since water can sit between the mesh links.
Store spare straps flat and out of direct sunlight — prolonged heat can dry out silicone over time and dull the finish on magnetic milanese. A quick wipe-down before storing whichever strap you're not wearing keeps it ready to go for the next trip.
Which Suunto Watches Don't Fit These Straps
The most common mix-up is the Suunto 9 versus the 9 Peak. They sound similar, but they are not the same width — every other model on this page uses a standard 22mm strap, so check your watch carefully before ordering:
- The plain Suunto 9 and 9 Baro use a 24mm strap, not the 22mm width covered on this page. Only the 9 Peak and 9 Peak Pro use 22mm. If your watch face just says "Suunto 9" or "9 Baro" without "Peak" on it, these straps do not fit — you need a 24mm strap instead.
- The Suunto 7 is also 24mm and does not fit these straps.
- The original Suunto 5 uses screw-attached, model-specific straps rather than quick-release straps, so it does not fit these straps either. Only the 5 Peak, a later model, takes the standard 22mm quick-release strap on this page.
- Suunto's older and rugged lines — Spartan, Ambit, Core and Traverse — use either 24mm straps or proprietary attachments, and none of them fit these straps.
