Suunto 5 Peak Straps — What Fits

This page covers the Suunto 5 Peak, which uses a 22mm quick-release strap — the same width as the Race, Vertical, 9 Peak, Ocean and Run. The original Suunto 5, without "Peak" in the name, is a different, older watch and is not covered here.

The 5 Peak's strap uses a quick-release spring bar: a small lever on the back of the pin lets you release the old strap and click a new one in without tools.

See the full Suunto Watch Straps collection for straps that fit the Race, Vertical, 9 Peak, Ocean and Run as well.

A stock strap eventually wears at the spring-bar holes, and third-party straps give 5 Peak owners more style choice than the handful of options that ship with the watch. Whichever style you choose, the fit is identical, since the 5 Peak has used the same 22mm lug width since it launched.

Style Guide for the 5 Peak

The 5 Peak is Suunto's lighter, more compact adventure watch, so it suits both a rugged training strap and something smarter for everyday wear.

Owners who train most days typically keep at least one moisture-resistant strap on hand and a dressier second option for non-training days, so they're not stuck wearing gym gear to the office.

  • Vornis silicone sport strap — light and sweat-resistant for runs and gym sessions., holding up well through daily runs or gym sessions
  • Rovan magnetic loop — a fast one-hand adjustment before or after a workout., handy when your wrist size shifts through the day
  • Mavric braided loop — a stretch-fit everyday strap., quick to pull on for a walk or errands
  • Solin magnetic milanese — a fine mesh finish for the office or evenings out., giving the watch a different look for evenings out
  • Véllo nylon loop — light and breathable for long days., light enough to forget you're wearing it on a long day
  • Voren nylon loop — a woven casual alternative with a different texture., offering another everyday texture to choose from

Fitting Your 5 Peak Strap

Turn the watch over, push the small lever on the spring bar behind the current strap, and slide it free. Press the new strap's spring bar into the lugs until it clicks on both sides.

The swap takes under a minute with no tools needed.

First-time swaps are easiest with the watch resting face-down on a soft surface. If you're ever unsure which width to order, measure the gap between the lugs on the back of the case rather than guessing.

Caring for Your Strap

Rinse silicone and nylon straps after a sweaty workout or a swim, then let them air dry before reattaching. Wipe magnetic milanese and magnetic loop straps dry with a cloth instead of soaking them.

Store any strap you're not wearing flat and out of direct sunlight, since prolonged heat can dry out silicone and dull a milanese finish over time. Rotating between two straps also gives each one time to dry out fully between wears.

Which Watches Don't Fit These Straps

These are the exceptions worth knowing before you order — the 5 Peak itself is unaffected by either exception below:

  • The original Suunto 5 does not fit these straps. It uses screw-attached, model-specific straps rather than a quick-release system, so there's no way to fit a standard strap without the right hardware — only the 5 Peak takes the 22mm quick-release strap covered here.
  • The plain Suunto 9 and 9 Baro use a wider 24mm strap — don't confuse them with the 9 Peak, which does share the 5 Peak's 22mm width. The Suunto 7 is also 24mm.
  • Older Suunto lines — Spartan, Ambit, Core and Traverse — use 24mm or proprietary attachments and are not compatible with these straps.
