Suunto Ocean Straps — What Fits
The Suunto Ocean uses a 22mm quick-release strap, the same width as the Race, Vertical, 9 Peak, 5 Peak and Run. Since its 2024 launch, the Ocean has kept this one consistent size.
The strap attaches with a quick-release spring bar — press the small lever on the back of the pin, and the old strap lifts free; press the new one's spring bar into the lugs to click it into place. No tools needed.
See the full Suunto Watch Straps collection for straps that fit the Race, Vertical, 9 Peak, 5 Peak and Run as well.
A stock strap eventually wears at the spring-bar holes from repeated water exposure, and third-party straps give Ocean owners more style choice than the handful of options that ship with the watch.
Style Guide for the Ocean
Suunto built the Ocean with water sports and diving in mind, so a lot of owners want a strap that can handle repeated soaking as well as one for dry land.
Owners who swim or dive most days typically keep at least one water-ready strap on hand and a dressier second option for dry land, so they're not stuck wearing a wet strap all day.
- Vornis silicone sport strap — the natural choice for swimming, diving days and general training, rinsing clean in seconds after a swim or dive.
- Rovan magnetic silicone sport strap — adjusts in a second over a wetsuit cuff, handy for adjusting over a wetsuit cuff.
- Mavric braided loop — a stretch-fit everyday strap for time on land, easy to pull on for a walk once you're back on dry land.
- Solin magnetic milanese — a smarter mesh finish away from the water, giving the watch a different look for evenings out.
- Véllo nylon loop — light and breathable for long days outdoors, light enough to forget you're wearing it on long days outdoors.
- Voren nylon loop — a woven casual alternative with a different texture, offering another everyday texture to choose from.
Fitting Your Ocean Strap
Flip the watch over, push the small lever on the spring bar behind the current strap, and slide it free. Line up the new strap's spring bar with the lugs and press until both sides click into place.
The swap takes under a minute and needs no tools.
First-time swaps are easiest with the watch resting face-down on a soft surface. If you're ever unsure which width to order, measure the gap between the lugs on the back of the case rather than guessing.
Caring for Your Strap
Rinse silicone and nylon straps in fresh water after swimming or diving in salt water, then let them air dry before reattaching. Magnetic milanese straps should be wiped dry with a cloth rather than soaked, since water can sit between the mesh links.
Store any strap you're not wearing flat and out of direct sunlight, since prolonged heat can dry out silicone and dull a milanese finish over time. Rotating between two straps also gives each one time to dry out fully between wears.
Which Watches Don't Fit These Straps
These 22mm straps are sized for the Ocean specifically, so double-check your model before ordering if you also own a Suunto 9 or 9 Baro. A few other Suunto watches need a different fit:
- The plain Suunto 9 and 9 Baro use a wider 24mm strap, not the 22mm width these straps are built for — that width belongs to the 9 Peak instead. The Suunto 7 is also 24mm.
- The original Suunto 5 uses screw-attached, model-specific straps, so it doesn't fit these straps — only the 5 Peak uses a standard 22mm quick-release strap.
- Suunto's older rugged lines — Spartan, Ambit, Core and Traverse — use 24mm or proprietary straps and aren't compatible here.
