Samsung Galaxy Watch Straps: Four Fittings, One Place to Find Yours
Your Galaxy Watch changes what it's for throughout the day, from a training partner in the morning to something you'd wear to dinner that night, and the strap is the easiest way to keep up with it. Nothing But Bands carries replacement straps for every Galaxy Watch and Gear generation we stock, in materials built for exactly those moments.
Samsung has used four different strap systems across the Galaxy Watch and Gear lines. Getting the fitting right matters more than getting the case size right, since watches with different case sizes often share a fitting, and watches with matching size numbers can use completely different mechanisms. Find your watch in one of the four groups below.
20mm Quick-Release Spring Bar
The most common Samsung fitting, and the one nearly every mid-size Galaxy Watch uses. A bigger case doesn't always mean a wider strap: the Watch 4 Classic 46mm, Watch 5 Pro 45mm and Watch 6 Classic 47mm are all still 20mm.
22mm Quick-Release Spring Bar
Used by the larger classic-era cases and the Gear line.
Dynamic Lug: Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic and Watch 9
Samsung's newest fitting drops the spring bar entirely. A moulded connector slides into a slot in the case and releases with a small button on the underside, and it's shared across all three current-generation models: the Galaxy Watch 8, the Watch 8 Classic and the Galaxy Watch 9. A strap bought for one fits the others too, and there's no case size to choose since 40mm, 44mm and the 46mm Classic all share the connector.
These straps don't accept older 20mm spring-bar straps, and they don't interchange with the Galaxy Watch Ultra's 34mm connection below. Shop the Galaxy Watch 8 / 8 Classic straps or the Galaxy Watch 9 straps collection, whichever name matches what's on your wrist; both carry the same fitting and the same stock.
34mm Dedicated Connection: Galaxy Watch Ultra and Ultra 2
The Galaxy Watch Ultra and Ultra 2 use their own dedicated 34mm strap connection, separate from every other fitting on this page, including the Dynamic Lug. Samsung is explicit that the Ultra can only be used with its dedicated straps. The one genuine cross-compatibility here: Ultra and Ultra 2 straps are interchangeable with each other. Shop Galaxy Watch Ultra straps or Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 straps.
Choosing a Material
Exact styles vary by model page, but the same general picks apply across the range. Silicone sport straps are the default for training and rinse clean in seconds. A nylon loop is lighter and more breathable, a better fit for overnight sleep tracking. Milanese mesh and stainless steel link straps dress the watch up for the office, and genuine leather is the most formal option where it's stocked. Most people end up keeping two: something for the gym and something for everything else.
How to Change a Samsung Galaxy Watch Strap
On the 20mm and 22mm spring-bar fittings, slide the small lever on the underside of the strap toward the case to release the old one, then press the new strap's spring bar into the same lug holes until it clicks. On the Dynamic Lug and 34mm fittings, press and hold the release button where the strap meets the case instead, no spring bar involved. Either way it takes seconds and no tools. Your model's own collection page has the full step-by-step for its specific fitting.
Caring for Your Straps
Rinse silicone straps with water and mild soap and dry them fully before wearing again. Hand wash nylon loops in cool water and air dry, skipping the tumble dryer, which wears the weave. Wipe milanese, stainless steel and leather straps with a soft, slightly damp cloth rather than submerging them.
