Genuine Leather Watch Straps: What Fits
Leather now covers three fits: Fitbit Charge 3, 4, 5 and 6, Versa 3, Versa 4, Sense and Sense 2; Garmin QuickFit 20mm, 22mm and 26mm; and Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. Apple Watch isn't in the leather lineup yet, so if you're after leather for an Apple Watch, silicone, nylon or milanese are your options for now.
Why Choose a Leather Watch Strap
Silicone and nylon are built to disappear during a workout. Leather does the opposite: it's meant to be noticed. A genuine leather strap swaps the sport-tracker look for something you'd wear to a meeting or a dinner without a second thought, and it's the one material here that actually improves with wear. The grain softens, takes on a slight sheen at the fold points, and picks up a bit of character that a synthetic strap never will. Expect a short break-in period of a week or two while the leather relaxes to the shape of your wrist; after that it only gets more comfortable. It's a trade: less sweat-proof, more personality. Fit works the same way it does across the rest of the range: the connector is tied to the model, not the brand, so a Fitbit strap won't cross over to a Garmin or Samsung watch even if the width looks similar.
- Fitbit Charge 5 and Charge 6 share one fitting: Harper, Ellis and Leora are all built for it.
- Fitbit Charge 3 and Charge 4 share a different, older fitting: Leora also comes in a Charge 3/4 version, but it is not interchangeable with the Charge 5/6 one, so check which Charge you have.
- Fitbit Versa 3, Versa 4, Sense and Sense 2 share one fitting across all four: Elara, Ellis, Ryder, Rowan and Sutton all fit any of them.
- Garmin QuickFit 20mm, 22mm and 26mm: Langford comes in all three widths, Alder in 22mm and 26mm. The three widths are not interchangeable with each other, so match the width to your specific Garmin model before ordering.
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch Ultra: Calder and Varden both fit either model, since Samsung uses the same lug spacing across the two.
Leather, or Something Else?
Leather and water don't get along. If your watch goes swimming, into the shower, or through heavy workouts, choose silicone or nylon instead and save the leather for dry days. Plenty of customers keep one of each and swap depending on what the day looks like: leather for the office, silicone or nylon for anything that involves sweat. Since the fitting is the same either way, switching between them takes seconds and doesn't cost you any of the tracking features built into the watch itself.
How to Care for a Leather Strap
- Keep it dry day to day. A splash of rain or a bit of sweat won't ruin it, but wipe it off with a dry cloth rather than letting it sit damp.
- Let it air out between wears if you're rotating straps. Leather that's never given a chance to dry out fully breaks down faster.
- Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators or car dashboards. Heat dries leather out and speeds up cracking.
- Condition it once or twice a year with a leather conditioner made for watch straps or thin leather goods. It keeps the material supple instead of stiff and brittle.
How to Clean a Leather Strap
- For everyday dust and light marks, a dry microfiber cloth is usually all you need.
- For a visible spot or a bit of grime, dampen a cloth slightly with water, wipe the area, and dry it immediately with a separate dry cloth. Don't soak the strap or hold it under a tap.
- Skip soap, alcohol wipes and household cleaners. They strip the natural oils out of the leather and leave it dry and prone to cracking.
- Never machine-wash or tumble-dry a leather strap. Let it air dry naturally, away from direct heat, before wearing it again.
- If it's picked up an odor, a light wipe with a barely damp cloth followed by a full day of air-drying usually clears it. A leather-specific conditioner afterward helps it recover.
