Withings ScanWatch Vitals Bands — What Fits

Withings ScanWatch Vitals bands come in two widths, and which one you need is decided by your case size rather than by anything else. Withings states it plainly in its own support documentation: the 42mm ScanWatch Vitals takes a 20mm wristband and the 38mm takes an 18mm one. Both are attached with quick-release spring bars, the same standard fitting used across the rest of the Withings hybrid range, so any band on this page in the right width goes straight on.

These are third-party replacement bands compatible with the ScanWatch Vitals. They are not Withings products and carry no Withings branding — they simply use the same quick-release spring bar the watch ships with.

Which size do I have?

The two cases are easy to tell apart once you know what to measure. Withings lists the 42mm Vitals at 42mm across and 12.9mm thick, weighing 52.6g without a band, and quotes it for wrists from 163mm to 239mm around. The 38mm Vitals is 38.4mm across and 13.4mm thick, weighs 34.6g without a band, and is quoted for wrists from 146mm to 211mm. If you would rather not measure the case, take the band off and measure the gap between the lugs instead: 20mm means the 42mm watch, 18mm means the 38mm watch.

ScanWatch Vitals and ScanWatch Healthmaster — The Same Watch

If you bought your watch in Europe it may be badged ScanWatch Healthmaster rather than ScanWatch Vitals. It is the same watch under a different regional name, and Withings lists the Healthmaster at 42mm with a 20mm wristband and the same 163–239mm wrist range as the 42mm Vitals. A band bought for a 42mm ScanWatch Vitals therefore fits a 42mm ScanWatch Healthmaster, and the other way round.

Choosing a Band for the ScanWatch Vitals

The ScanWatch line is built to pass for an ordinary analogue watch, with a small hidden display rather than a full screen, so a band that keeps that understated look usually suits it better than a sport-branded one. Which styles you can pick from depends on your width, because 20mm is a far more common size than 18mm.

Office and everyday

On the 42mm case, the Solin magnetic milanese is the natural match for the Vitals' stainless case: a fine steel mesh that closes on a concealed magnet rather than a buckle, so it stays slim under a shirt cuff and adjusts to any wrist length without holes to line up. The Harper and Noren genuine leather bands are the dressier alternative, and both are 20mm.

Sport and casual

The Vornis silicone sport band is the practical everyday choice at 20mm: it shrugs off sweat, rinses clean under a tap and does not mind a shower. The Mavric braided loop is a softer, fabric-textured option that reads as casual rather than sporty. On the 38mm case, the Rovan magnetic silicone sport band is the 18mm quick-release band — soft silicone with a magnetic closure that adjusts a millimetre at a time.

Sleep and overnight

The ScanWatch Vitals tracks sleep and overnight breathing, so it is a watch that stays on after dark, and that puts a premium on a light band with no hard edges underneath. The Véllo and Voren nylon loops, both 20mm, are the lightest and most breathable options for the 42mm case, and the Bravik nylon loop is a third 20mm woven choice. On the 38mm case the Rovan silicone band is light enough to sleep in.

Changing the Band on a ScanWatch Vitals

Withings uses a knob-style quick-release spring bar, so no tools are needed. The knob sits on the underside of the bar, and it slides sideways rather than pressing in:

• Turn the watch over so you can see the spring bars at both ends.
• Find the knob on the first spring bar and pull it to one side; that end of the bar retracts and the band lifts out of the lug.
• Insert one side of the new band's spring bar into its lug hole first.
• Hold the knob to the side, drop the second end into place and release it so the pin seats.
• Repeat on the other lug, then tug gently on both halves before you wear it.

Most people wear the buckle on the twelve o'clock side, but that is a preference rather than a rule — fit it whichever way is comfortable.

Wrist Size and Fit

Width and length are separate questions. Width is fixed by the case — 20mm on the 42mm Vitals, 18mm on the 38mm — while length depends on your wrist. Measure just above the wrist bone with a tape measure, or wrap a strip of paper round and mark where it meets, then read the result in millimetres and check it against the range on the band you are looking at.

Set the band so the case sits flat on the top of the wrist, tight enough that it does not slide when you turn your arm and loose enough to slip a fingertip underneath. That matters more than usual on this watch: a sensor that shifts against the skin gives noisy overnight heart-rate and breathing data, and a band strapped down hard leaves a mark by morning.

Which Watches Don't Fit These Bands

Withings sizes its bands by case diameter rather than by model generation, so the traps here are all about width:

• The 38mm ScanWatch Vitals takes 18mm, not 20mm — a 20mm band will not seat between its lugs. Match the width to your case size, not to the model name you bought.
• No Withings watch uses 22mm — if you have been shopping for a 22mm band for a ScanWatch, that is the wrong width for every model in the range.
• The Withings Pulse HR and Withings Go use proprietary straps rather than a standard lug, so nothing on this page fits either of them.

Case size does not predict width on its own anywhere in this range, which is exactly why the 39mm Nova Brilliant and the 38mm Vitals both end up on 18mm while a 40mm Steel HR sits on 20mm. When in doubt, measure the lug gap.

Caring for a ScanWatch Vitals Band

A band worn overnight as well as through the day collects sweat, soap and skin oils, and that causes irritation far more often than the material itself. Rinse silicone and nylon bands in cool water with a little mild soap, rinse the soap out completely and lay them flat to dry — soap residue left in a band is a common cause of itching.

Wipe leather with a barely damp cloth and keep it away from water; wipe stainless mesh dry rather than submerging it, so the magnetic clasp keeps sliding cleanly. Let any band dry fully before it goes back on the watch.
