Garmin QuickFit 20 Bands — What Fits

QuickFit is Garmin's own quick-release system: a rotating cam built into the band clips onto a matching bar on the watch case, so bands come off and on with a flip of a lever — no spring-bar tool needed, and no case-back access either.

QuickFit comes in three sizes, and 20 is the smallest — the size Garmin uses on its 40mm, 42mm and 43mm cases, the compact editions of the fēnix, Epix, Instinct, Descent, D2 and Approach lines. The full family list is below.

QuickFit is a Garmin-specific clip mechanism rather than a universal spring-bar fitting, so unlike our standard quick release watch bands, QuickFit 20 bands are built to fit Garmin's QuickFit-equipped watches specifically, not classic mechanical or quartz watches with a 20mm lug gap.

If you're not sure whether your Garmin watch uses QuickFit at all, check the underside of your current band for a small lever near the case — QuickFit connectors have one built into the band itself, while standard spring-bar bands hide their lever inside the bar between the lugs instead. Garmin also states the connector type and size directly in each watch's spec sheet, which is worth checking if the band on your wrist doesn't make it obvious.

Garmin Watches That Use QuickFit 20

QuickFit 20 is the small-case size, so within most Garmin families only the compact edition takes it. These are the models Garmin lists as QuickFit 20 compatible:

  • fēnix 5S and fēnix 5S Plus, in the 42mm case.
  • fēnix 6S in the 42mm case — Standard, Pro, Sapphire and Pro Solar editions.
  • fēnix 7S and fēnix 7S Pro in the 42mm case — Standard, Solar and Sapphire Solar editions.
  • fēnix 8 AMOLED in the 43mm case — the smallest of the three fēnix 8 sizes.
  • Epix Pro (Gen 2) in the 42mm case, Standard and Sapphire editions.
  • Instinct 2S and Instinct 2S Solar, in the 40mm case — including the Camo and Surf editions.
  • Instinct E in the 40mm case.
  • D2 Delta S — the 42mm aviator watch.
  • Descent Mk2S, plus Descent Mk3 and Descent Mk3i in the 43mm case.
  • Descent X50i — Garmin lists this large-format dive computer as QuickFit 20 compatible, but it takes two bands rather than one.
  • Approach S70 in the 42mm case — the smaller of the two S70 sizes.

QuickFit 20 vs QuickFit 22 vs QuickFit 26

The three QuickFit sizes look alike but are not interchangeable — the connector width is different, so a band in the wrong size simply won't clip on. Case size is what decides it, not the generation number:

  • QuickFit 20 — the 40mm to 43mm cases: fēnix 5S/6S/7S, fēnix 8 43mm, Epix Pro 42mm, Instinct 2S, Instinct E 40mm, D2 Delta S, Descent Mk2S and Mk3 43mm, Approach S70 42mm.
  • QuickFit 22 — the 47mm-class cases. See our QuickFit 22 bands page for those.
  • QuickFit 26 — the 51mm-class cases and the X models. See our QuickFit 26 bands page for those.
  • Within one family the sizes split by case: a fēnix 7S takes QuickFit 20, a fēnix 7 takes QuickFit 22 and a fēnix 7X takes QuickFit 26. Check the case size on your watch before ordering.

QuickFit vs Standard Quick Release

It's easy to assume QuickFit is just Garmin's name for a standard quick-release band, but the two systems aren't interchangeable.

  • Standard quick release: a spring bar with a lever hidden inside the bar; used industry-wide, including on classic mechanical and quartz watches.
  • QuickFit: a rotating cam built into the band itself, with the lever on the band rather than the bar; unique to Garmin and only found on Garmin's QuickFit-labeled watches.
  • A QuickFit-equipped Garmin watch can only take QuickFit bands in the matching size — a standard 20mm spring-bar band will not fit the case's connector, even though the numbers match.
  • Some Garmin watches offer both routes: the Instinct 2S and Instinct E 40mm take Garmin's own 20mm spring-bar bands as well as QuickFit 20 bands. Most QuickFit watches take QuickFit only.
  • Garmin watches without QuickFit take standard spring-bar bands instead, in whatever width that specific model uses.

The QuickFit 20 Band We Carry: Langford Genuine Leather

Langford is our QuickFit 20 band — a genuine leather strap built with Garmin's rotating-cam connector in place of a spring bar, so it clips straight onto a QuickFit 20 watch with no tool. It's the dressier end of the range: leather softens the look of a rugged 42mm multisport case for office wear and evenings without needing a second watch.

It's currently the only QuickFit 20 style we carry, so if you're looking for a silicone sport, nylon loop or magnetic milanese equivalent in this connector, that's not yet available in the 20 size.

Swapping a QuickFit 20 Band

Find the small lever on the underside of the QuickFit connector, flip it out, and the band's cam rotates open so it lifts off the bar entirely — no spring-bar pins to line up. To attach a new band, hook the connector's open end onto the bar and rotate the lever closed until it sits flat against the case.

Because the whole assembly is a single clip rather than a spring bar and separate band, swaps are typically quicker than standard quick-release bands and don't require pressing anything into a tight lug gap.

It's worth practicing the motion once on a watch you're not wearing, since the cam mechanism moves a little differently from a spring bar the first few times you use it.

Caring for a Leather QuickFit 20 Band

Wipe leather with a barely damp cloth and let it air-dry away from direct heat — no soaking, and no washing machine. Leather takes on the shape of your wrist over time, so a little stiffness at the start is normal and eases with wear.

Keeping the QuickFit connector dry matters too: let the band dry fully before clipping it back on, so moisture isn't trapped against the cam's moving parts. If you swim or shower in your watch regularly, a silicone or nylon band in your watch's connector size is the better everyday choice.

Which Watches Don't Fit QuickFit 20

QuickFit isn't universal across Garmin's own lineup, and the 20 size is the narrowest of the three, so check your model carefully:

  • The standard-size and X-size watches in these same families do not fit: fēnix 7, fēnix 8 47mm, Epix Pro 47mm, Approach S70 47mm and Descent Mk3 51mm use QuickFit 22 or QuickFit 26 instead.
  • Instinct 2, Instinct 2X, Instinct 3 (45mm and 50mm), Instinct Crossover and Instinct E 45mm all use the larger sizes — only the Instinct 2S and Instinct E 40mm take QuickFit 20.
  • MARQ, Tactix, Quatix, Enduro and the Forerunner 9xx watches do not use QuickFit 20 — see our QuickFit 22 bands and QuickFit 26 bands pages instead.
  • A standard 20mm spring-bar band does not fit a QuickFit 20 watch, and a QuickFit 20 band does not fit a watch built for 20mm spring bars — the numbers match but the fittings do not.
  • Garmin watches without QuickFit — most Vívoactive, Vívomove, Venu and Forerunner models — use standard spring-bar quick release instead; see our quick release watch bands for those.
  • Because QuickFit is a proprietary clip rather than a spring bar, classic mechanical or quartz watches don't fit QuickFit 20 bands even if their lug gap happens to measure 20mm.
