18mm is the width used on the most compact smartwatch cases. Small-diameter models from Huawei, Fossil, Skagen, Withings, Xiaomi and OnePlus all take 18mm, listed by brand below.

Like every quick release band, the 18mm size uses a spring bar with a small built-in lever, so it lifts free of the lugs by hand — no tools required.

18mm is also a long-standing standard in traditional watchmaking, especially on smaller dress and women's watches, so these bands fit any classic mechanical or quartz watch with 18mm lugs, not only smaller smartwatch cases.

If you're not sure your watch is 18mm, check the manufacturer's spec sheet or measure the gap between the lugs with a small ruler — several of the brands on this page only moved certain models to 18mm recently, so don't assume based on an older model in the same range.

Why 18mm Is Becoming More Common

18mm used to be reserved almost entirely for women's watches and slimmer dress models, but several smartwatch makers have shifted their smallest case size down to 18mm in the last few years — Huawei's 2023 change and Fossil's Gen 6 and Gen 5E 42mm are both examples. That shift is why some buyers still expect 20mm on a small case and end up ordering the wrong width, especially if they're going by an older review or an outdated spec page.

18mm currently ships in one style: Rovan magnetic loop, a slim, adjustable magnetic band that suits the smaller cases this width covers, with quick on/off for daily wear. The full six-style range — Mavric braided loop, Solin magnetic milanese, Véllo nylon loop, Vornis silicone sport, Rovan magnetic loop and Voren nylon loop — is available in 22mm and 20mm; at 18mm, the Rovan magnetic loop is the one style we currently stock.

Rovan's magnetic clasp also makes it a practical fit for the smaller wrists these compact cases are often sized for, since it adjusts without needing a specific hole to line up with a buckle the way a traditional strap does.

How to Swap an 18mm Band

Push the small lever on the underside of the spring bar toward the center of the bar and the band lifts free of the lugs.

To fit the Rovan loop, line up the spring bar with the lugs, press one end in, then click the other end into place — done in seconds, with no tools needed.

There's no case-back to open and no separate tool to buy — the release lever is built into the spring bar itself, so the process is identical to swapping a 20mm or 22mm band, just on a smaller scale.

Caring for 18mm Bands

Wipe the Rovan magnetic loop with a dry or lightly damp cloth rather than submerging it, to keep the magnetic clasp working smoothly and the fabric looking new.

Letting the loop dry fully before storing it also helps prevent the trapped moisture that's the most common cause of a sluggish magnetic clasp over time.

Which Watches Don't Fit 18mm

18mm is a newer width for several brands, so it's easy to assume the wrong size — check these first:

• Huawei's small cases only moved to 18mm in 2023: GT 4 41mm, GT 5 41mm, GT 5 Pro 42mm, GT 6 41mm and Watch 5 42mm are 18mm, but the older GT 2 42mm and GT 3 42mm remain 20mm.
• Fossil Gen 6 42mm and Gen 5E 42mm take 18mm, even though several outside sources wrongly list them as 20mm — Fossil's own interchangeable straps for these confirm 18mm.
• Withings sizing follows the case: 38mm-and-under cases (ScanWatch 38, ScanWatch 2 38, Light 37, Nova Brilliant 39, Steel/Steel HR 36, Move 38) are 18mm, while 40-43mm cases move up to 20mm.
• OnePlus Watch 3 comes in two sizes — the 46mm case is 22mm, and only the smaller 43mm case is 18mm.
• Xiaomi Watch S4 is 18mm only in the 41mm case; the 47mm case, S4 Sport and Watch S5 46mm are all 22mm.
• Huawei's entire Watch Fit line and the Watch D/D2 blood-pressure models use proprietary connectors regardless of case size — no standard 18mm band fits them.
• Among the Skagen smartwatches we cover, only the Jorn 38mm is 18mm — the Falster line (Gen 6, Falster 1, Falster 2 and Falster 3) uses 20mm or 22mm instead, so don't assume every Skagen watch matches this page.
• As a general rule across every brand here, 18mm tends to appear on a manufacturer's smallest or most recent case size — if you have an older or larger version of a listed model, check its spec sheet rather than assuming it matches.
