Fossil Gen 5 Bands — What Fits

Fossil's Gen 5 family — Gen 5, Gen 5 LTE and Gen 5E, plus the earlier Gen 4 Explorist HR — mostly shares a 44mm case and 22mm lug width. The exception is the Gen 5E 42mm, a smaller case that takes 18mm, not the 20mm you'll see on some general sizing charts.

Every band here is a quick-release, spring-bar design: flip the small lever on the back, slide the old band out of the lugs, and press the new one in until it clicks on both sides. No tools, about 10 seconds per side.

Because Fossil smartwatches use standard lug spacing, these bands also fit classic, non-smart Fossil watches with matching 22mm or 18mm lugs.

Choosing a Style for Your Gen 5

We make Gen 5 bands in six quick-release styles, split across three everyday needs.

Vornis silicone sport is built for training and daily workouts — sweat-friendly and quick to rinse clean. Mavric braided loop is a breathable alternative if silicone isn't your thing.

Solin magnetic milanese gives a dressier, mesh-metal look with a magnetic clasp that micro-adjusts to your wrist. Véllo nylon loop is a softer, single-piece option for smart-casual wear.

Rovan magnetic loop is the lightest option for sleep tracking or all-day wear, and it's currently the only style we make in 18mm — so if you own the Gen 5E 42mm, Rovan is available today in your exact width, with the other five styles currently made in 22mm and 20mm. Voren nylon loop rounds out the everyday options in 22mm.

Sizing & Swapping in Seconds

Not sure which Gen 5 case you have? The 44mm case (Gen 5, Gen 5 LTE, Gen 5E 44mm, or Gen 4 Explorist HR) takes 22mm bands; only the smaller Gen 5E 42mm takes 18mm. You can also check the underside of your current band, where Fossil usually stamps the width in millimeters near the buckle.

To swap, find the small pin or lever on the inside of the band near the case, slide it toward the center to release the spring bar, then press the new band's spring bar into the same lugs until both sides click. It takes well under a minute and no tools.

For a broader look at either size, browse our full 22mm quick-release bands or 18mm bands collections.

Which Watches Don't Fit

The Gen 5E 42mm takes an 18mm band, not 20mm. General sizing guides often round a 42mm case to 20mm, but Fossil's own straps for the Gen 5E 42mm are 18mm, so a 20mm band will be too wide to seat in the lugs.

Separately, don't confuse Gen 5 with the Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid (45mm, 20mm bands) or the touchscreen Fossil Gen 6 (44mm = 22mm, 42mm = 18mm) — different generation, and the widths don't carry over between them.

Caring for Your Gen 5 Band

Rinse silicone and nylon bands under water after sweaty workouts and let them air dry before wearing again. Wipe the magnetic milanese or magnetic loop styles with a soft, dry cloth instead of submerging them, and keep them away from other magnetic items when off your wrist.
