COROS Nomad Bands — What Fits

Every band on this page is a 24mm quick-release band, and that is exactly what the COROS NOMAD takes. COROS publishes a band compatibility chart for its whole range, and the two bands it lists for the NOMAD — the silicone one and the nylon one — are both described as 24mm quick release. So the answer to the only question that matters is short: if a band is 24mm and quick release, it goes on a NOMAD. COROS Nomad bands use a wide standard fitting, not a special connector.

These are third-party replacement bands compatible with the COROS NOMAD. They carry no COROS branding and are not COROS products — they use the same 24mm quick-release spring bar the watch was designed around.

How the quick-release spring bar works

A quick-release spring bar is an ordinary spring bar with a tiny sliding lever built into its underside. Push that lever toward the middle of the bar and the pin on that end retracts, so the band lifts straight out of the lug. To fit a new one, drop one end of the bar into its hole, hold the lever back, line the other end up and let it snap home. No spring-bar tool and no trip to a watchmaker — about twenty seconds per side.

Why the NOMAD Uses 24mm

24mm is a wide lug size, and far fewer watches use it than 22mm. That is the practical reason a 24mm COROS Nomad strap is harder to track down than a band for a smaller watch: the width is uncommon rather than the fitting being unusual. 24mm is also a long-standing traditional watchmaking size, used on dive, pilot and oversized field watches, so a 24mm band bought for a NOMAD goes just as happily onto a mechanical watch with 24mm lugs.

Which other watches share the 24mm width

If you own more than one watch, it is worth knowing which of them can share a band with the NOMAD. These are confirmed at 24mm quick release by their own makers:

• COROS Apex 4 46mm — the other COROS watch at 24mm. The Apex 4 42mm is 22mm, so the two case sizes do not share a band.
• Garmin Venu X1 — Garmin's owner's manual specifies 24mm standard quick-release bands.
• Suunto 7, Suunto 9 and Suunto 9 Baro — Suunto sells 24mm quick-release straps for all three.
• Fossil Hybrid HR Latitude 50mm — the 24mm member of the Hybrid HR family.
• Any classic watch with 24mm lugs — measure the gap between the lugs rather than trusting the case diameter.

Choosing a Band Material for the NOMAD

The NOMAD is an adventure watch with a large case, so at 24mm the band is a big part of how it reads on the wrist. Once width is settled, material is the real decision — and it depends far more on how the watch is used than on how it looks in a photo.

Nylon for lightness and adjustment

Woven nylon is the lightest and most breathable of the three families, which counts on a watch worn for long days outdoors. It adjusts anywhere along its length instead of at fixed holes, so the fit can be tuned a millimetre at a time — useful when a wrist swells on a hot day. The Bravik nylon loop is the 24mm quick-release nylon band here. The trade-off with any woven band is that it holds moisture and has to dry out rather than be wiped down.

Silicone for sweat and water

Silicone is the hard-wearing choice for sport. It does not absorb sweat, it rinses clean under a tap and it copes with a shower or a swim. The trade-off is that it can feel warm against the skin on a long summer day, and it traps moisture underneath if the fit is too tight.

Leather and mesh for dress wear

Leather softens as it moulds to the wrist and is the most formal-looking option, but repeated soaking is what kills it, so it is the wrong material for the gym or the shower. Stainless mesh on a magnetic clasp is the easiest of all to fine-tune, and at 24mm it carries noticeable weight.

Fitting and Sizing a NOMAD Band

Changing the band

Because the NOMAD uses a standard quick-release bar rather than a proprietary clip, changing the band needs no tools:

• Turn the watch over so the underside of the band faces you.
• Find the small lever on the spring bar, just inside the lug, and push it toward the centre of the band.
• With the lever held back, angle that end of the band away from the case — it comes free without force.
• Fit the new band by dropping one end of its bar into the lug hole first, then hold the lever back, line up the second end and release it.
• Tug gently on both halves before wearing it. A bar that is only half seated holds for a while and then lets go at the worst moment.

Getting the wrist fit right

Width and length are different things, and only width is fixed by the watch. Measure your wrist just above the wrist bone, read the length in millimetres, and check it against the range listed on the band. Set it so the watch sits flat on top of the wrist, tight enough that it does not slide when you turn your arm and loose enough to slip a fingertip underneath. On a watch taking optical heart-rate readings that is not only a comfort question: a band that shifts lets light leak in under the sensor.

Which COROS Watches Don't Fit These Bands

COROS changes band width across its range far more than the family names suggest, so this is where wrong orders happen. None of the following take a 24mm band:

• COROS Apex 4 42mm uses 22mm and does NOT fit a 24mm band — only the Apex 4 46mm is 24mm. Check the case size before ordering.
• COROS Pace 3, Pace 4 and Pace Pro are 22mm and do NOT fit. See COROS Pace 4 bands for that width.
• COROS Pace 2 and the original Pace are 20mm and do NOT fit.
• COROS Apex 2 and the 42mm original Apex are 20mm and do NOT fit — see COROS Apex 2 bands .
• COROS Apex Pro, Apex 2 Pro and the 46mm original Apex are 22mm and do NOT fit.
• COROS Vertix 2 and Vertix 2S use 26mm bands and do NOT fit. The original 2019 Vertix is 22mm, so it does not fit either.
• A 22mm or 20mm band does NOT fit a NOMAD. The bar is too short to span the lugs, so the band sits loose and can drop off the wrist.

Case size never decides lug width on its own. If you are not certain, take the old band off and measure the gap between the lugs straight across — standard widths step in even numbers, so a reading of 23.5mm means 24mm.

Caring for a 24mm NOMAD Band

A band worn on an adventure watch picks up sweat, sunscreen, salt and dust, and that causes far more skin irritation than the material itself ever does. Rinse a nylon or silicone band in cool water with a little mild soap, rinse every trace of soap away and lay it flat to dry. Wringing a woven nylon band out stretches the weave out of shape.

Wipe leather with a barely damp cloth and keep it out of water; wipe stainless mesh dry rather than submerging it. Whatever the material, let it dry fully before it goes back on — moisture trapped around the spring bar is the most common reason a quick-release lever turns stiff over time.
